Refinishing old tubs and Tile

Vintage bathroom fixtures are highly desirable design features in today’s home market, but nothing screams “yuck” louder than a discolored bathroom sink or tub.
Our designers asked us to research the best and most economical method to correct age-stained fixtures. David Powell went to refinishing school and then put the product to a real test. He took an old farmhouse sink out of a dump to find out if it’s possible to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.
Take a look at the results.
While this method is by no means as good as baked on enamel or 3000 degree fired porcelain, the results are pretty darn good. Plus, it’s a lot less intrusive and expensive than tearing out the entire room.
This method begins with cleaning and acid etching the fixture. Then, we apply a two-part epoxy primer and finish coat that are matched to the Sherwin Williams color chart. It takes several hours for a tub or sink, a couple of days for an entire bathroom of tile.
